(English below) Na jaren van schilderen en tekenen heb ik een vorm gevonden waarin ik me thuisvoel. Aan de ene kant precies tekenen van portretten en aan de andere kant nogal ruw schilderen van stillevens en (abstracte) landschappen. Zo precies als ik de vorm teken zo laat ik het los het als ik schilder. Licht, vorm, schaduw en kleur vertaal ik in lijnen en vlakken en dikke olieverf.
Jarenlang heb ik “abstract” gewerkt. Heerlijk om te zien wat er uit komt als je zonder doel of vorm met verf bezig gaat. Na verloop van tijd kwam ik er achter dat er ongewild toch altijd een vorm schuilt in deze “abstracte” werken. Het werden landschappen. Ik noem ze, “Abstracte landschappen.” Op dit moment schilder ik stillevens naar het leven.
“Abstractie” is nu voor mij, het onverwachte. Ik schilder dit en dat komt er uit. Soms is dat een nieuw inzicht een doorbraak of een oplossing voor een vraag. Een klein beetje verf kan een mooie suggestie opleveren, bedoeld of onbedoeld.
Het maken van nieuwe vormen, kleuren, bewegingen, het licht, de kleur. Elke keer weer verrasend. Nooit af altijd gaat het weer anders. Het doel is de reis. Ik laat me verassen!

After years of painting and drawing, I have found a style in which I feel at home. On the one hand precise drawing of portraits and on the other hand rather rough painting of a still life and (abstract) landscapes. As precisely as I draw the shape, I let it go when I paint. I translate light, shape, shadow and color into lines and surfaces and thick oil paint.
For years I have worked “abstractly”. Wonderful to see what comes out when you work with paint without shape or purpose. After a while I discovered that unintentionally there are always forms and shapes in these “abstract” works. They became landscapes. I call them, “Abstract Landscapes.” At this moment I paint still lifes after life.
“Abstraction” I now define as the unexpected. I’m painting this and that comes out. Sometimes it is a new insight, a breakthrough or a solution to a question. A little bit of paint can provide a nice suggestion, intentionally or unintentionally. Creating new shapes, colors, movements, light, color. Surprising, every time! It never ends it always turns out differently. The journey is the goal! The present is a present.
